The sauces are available for sale online and at stores throughout Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. You can also find him at Farm Markets and Samplings throughout CT.

Sauces: Puttanesca, Marina, Traditional and Vodka Sauce.
Pastas: Penne, Casarecce, Fusilli & Mezze Rigatoni

The Family

Chef John was born 1958 in a small shore line town in Connecticut. Both parents and grandparents from both sides are of Italian origin, all coming from Italy. Grandfather Gaetano Vergati and Grandmother Angelina Vergati immigrated to America through Ellis Island in the late 20’s, early 30’s.

Growing up around his grandparents on his father’s side, he would spend a lot of time with them on weekends, holidays and every Sunday when the entire family would get together for an Italian dinner. He also spent time on his grandparent's farm working with his grandfather and watching his grandmother cook. His parents also being great cooks gave him much to learn about the family recipes as a little boy. So needless to say as a child the food was exceptional!

I ran into John at a grocery store buying Genoa salami yesterday and he told me about his wonderful sauce...I bought two jars, one of each variety of red sauce and they are out of this world! Not to be compared with even the best jarred sauce... ONLY to your grandmother's homemade! FANTASTIC! SO glad I ran into him and struck up this conversation! This is the only sauce I will buy off a shelf from this day forward!

He also provides cooking classes using his family recipes. The Traveling Italian Chef will cook in your kitchen and serve you and your dinner party guests or prepare your selection and deliver it to your door. Choose from our large Italian menu which includes salads, appetizers, pastas, chicken, veal, pork, steak, roasts, and fish. In addition, we offer many dessert choices. You can use our dinnerware (plates, glasses, silverware, cloth napkins and tablecloths) or your own. Ask about our cocktails and wine selections.
